Nav Night Black all the time ?

Nav Night Black all the time ?
I really like the dark look on the Nav at night and would like to have it like that all the time especially as I have now installed a Pumpkin android stereo.
Has anyone else done this ?
I suppose I will have to track down the signal wire and duplicate the input at start up .

You can adjust the brightness or contrast of the screen depending on the brightness of your surroundings.
You also can turn the display off.
To display the “Display” screen, push
the “OPTION” button and touch the
“Display” switch.
Contrast and brightness adjustment
CONTRAST “+”:
Strengthens the contrast of the screen.
CONTRAST “–”:
Weakens the contrast of the screen.
BRIGHTNESS “+”: Brightens the screen.
BRIGHTNESS “–”: Darkens the screen.
The screen turns off when you push the
“SCREEN OFF”. To turn the display
screen back on, push any bezel switch
such as “OPTION”, etc. The selected screen appears.
Depending on the position of the headlight switch, the screen changes to either day mode or night mode.
To display the screen in the day mode even with the headlight switch on, touch “DAY MODE” on the adjustment screen for brightness and contrast control.
However, if the instrument panel light control switch is turned fully to the right, mode switching cannot be done. It remains in the day mode. In this case, “DAY MODE” is not shown on the screen.
If the screen is set in the day mode with the headlight switch turned on, this condition is memorized in the system even with the engine turned off.

Thank you for that , however I cannot seem to get " night mode " in the daylight which is what I'm after .
It seems on my 2002 that the night mode is not dependent on the headlight switch but seems to only go to night mode when the auto headlights come on so is dependent on the daylight/night sensor ??
