Default LS430 a/c temp adjust buttons

Anyone ever had to replace/repair the up/down buttons on the dash?

The one on the passenger side for the up not only got stuck but now has a setting of “Very Hot” and the lower button does not engage to lower the setting.

Worse, the driver side “Dual” control will not disengage.

Was able to pop the cover between the switches but the up button will not reset.

May have to resort to a dealer if no one has any advise or experience to share...

Cover removed.

View into cavern; not sure if the whole unit pops out or not...

The entire switch comes out in one piece. I had to replace one of mine because it didn't work. Paid $10 for a used one on eBay.

Thanks. I see a few out there....

Any info on how to remove the old switch? It appears there is a harness that connects to the back of the oddly angled assembly. If you pop out the switch does the wiring harness come out with it?

Any direction for this will be helpful....

Just pry it out with a nylon trim tool or a flat head screwdriver wrapped in tape. There is enough slack in the wiring to unplug it after it is removed.

Use a trim tool or you will be pissed off when you scratch the dash.

I was able to remove the switch (after careful study and everyone’s help). I started to use some nylon tools but then found an edge inside(after the middle cover was removed with a nylon tool) and after assessing options decided to use a paint can opener; it fit perfectly on that edge and the switch popped out with no need to pry against the dash material.

Replacement switch ordered off of eBay($30 now) and should be here next week. BTW, a new switch from Lexus costs $185 !!

Thanks for the help, folks....

Received the replacement switch and installed it with no issues.

The driver side switch showing symptoms similar to the other one so ordered a replacement for that, too.

Take the old one apart and save the light bulb that's in it. I had to replace it in one of the used ones I bought.

Received the driver side switch. Have to say it was tougher to extract as the middle section did not pop off like the passenger side. Got it out but destroyed it with no damage to the dash, Still highly recommend using a paint can opener to pull out the switch.
