Default 02 to 04 LS430 Interior swap ?

Hello fellow CL members,

I am recently finding myself wanting to change the interior of my 05 LS430. I have the ecru leather and its in decent condition but I am really wanting to change it up to a black interior.

I found at a local junkyard a 2002 UL (black with cherry red wood) in decent condition and was wondering if I could just simply swap out my interior for the 2002 UL LS one?

Would it simply be plug and play? I know the shifter bezel is a different size (longer) but the rest (doorcards, seats, carpet, various interior trim, dashboard) should fit with no issues correct?

Thanks,
Yann

Always wondered this myself. Curious to see if anyone has done it.

It should......I would be concerned about electronics changes in the dash equipment like blend doors and misc controls. Those may not work

Also the glove box area may be an issue. I believe the 2002 had two separate glove boxes while the 2005 has one large one. The entire opening may be a different shape.

That would actually be fine if he takes the entire dash, may need to again work with the electrical side since the dual box has two lights

Thanks for the replies guys!

Turns out that interior I found at the junkyard (after getting rid of all the random parts stacked in the car) wasn't in the best shape, the leather seats had been "dented" and im not sure if it would be possible to salvage them.

Let me know what you think as the junkyard is asking for $1500 (that includes all seats, dashboard, door cards, center console, carpet) and not the seatbelts, headliner or other various inside trim.

Thanks,
Yann

If you decide to pass please PM me as I might be interested in one of the pieces.

Hey dont worry about the dents in the leather there super easy to get out. All you do is get a heat gun put it on the lowest setting and slowly heat the leather up evenly and then massage the leather, do this like 2-4 times and the dents will come out.

+1

However I would add that if you massage the leather with your hands, give the leather a second or two to cool off before touching it, it may get fairly hot.

Don't ask me how I know

Door panels will work with no issues. Front seats bolt up but you will have to repin the harness. It's a 6 pin vs. 4 pin I think. Rear seats won't have the cooling function and the harness might be different as well. Technically they will fit but you will have to modify a few things.

YannG, like others have stated you can use heat to get the dents out of the leather. I'm going to PM you about a couple other parts on that car.

thanks for the responses, I appreciate it

I also forgot to mention that the steering wheel and airbag were also not included in the price so I think I may pass on this. I am still tempted to buy the rear (left & right) sunshade and maybe modify my door cards to fit them? I would think you would have to cut a slot at the top? I'll need to look into it.

Thanks

I feel like $1500 is absurd for what you’re getting anyway. I’ve gotten running and driving 400s and 430s for that price

Would be easier to get cards with shades in your color. Check to see if yours has the mounting points on the panel before you purchase the shades. They generally do but sometimes they do not.

Agreed, you can literally get an entire car for parts for that.
