That's a good assumption. Now you can get to it (if it is in the trunk per previous illustration) to test it by plugging in an antenna. I gave you a link to buy one in a previous post. Ebay may also have one used for less money. Maybe that's all it needs to work. But if a new antenna doesn't give you channel one reception, then there's an issue with the receiver. At least it's easy to get to and you can then look for a used one on Ebay or other site, or buy an aftermarket receiver. Only you can determine how much money you're willing to spend. I don't mind paying $6/month for basic service but I didn't need to spend $260-360 to get it working.

FYI: If you have (another) car with Sirius XM and no subscription, Sirius XM is free through July 6.

I ended up ordering this unit from Amazon. It works great. Tuned it to 87.7 FM and streaming music from my iphone sounds perfect through the ML system. Bluetooth phone calls work great also. I have XM on my phone (wife has XM subscription in her car) so I can stream XM through this unit. Based on this, I am thinking about just using this and not trying to fix the SAT/XM issues in my car.

Awesome. So glad you tried it. Too much effort and money to fix the car system.
