Hello i noticed the car is shut off and the tail lights are not turning off. it appears the tail lights are on and sometimes dim and brighten on there own and will not go off no matter how long they are on. i also have noticed that the third brake light is out on the back dash( maybe burnt out from being on for so long?) i have an 06 with the LED tail lights and Navigation option. if i had to guess its the brake light switch? relay? any advice would be great. thanks!

Are you sure you don't have the headlights set to the Parking/Side Marker position?
If set to Auto, try turning the lights to Off and see if it still happens.
Is anything blocking your headlight control sensor on the dash?
Looks like the Lighting ECU is having problems.
Maybe try a battery disconnect reset?

i am pretty sure i had the headlights set to off . i will check to see if the headlight control sensor is blocked and i will disconnect the battery when i get home. thanks

Check the brake switch on the brake pedal to make sure it's not bent toward the pedal and not able to fully turn off.
