Default Car covers?

Looking for a car cover. First attempt was a $44 eBay special. Swing and a miss. Don't want to spend a bunch of money on a custom fitted one, but that looks like it might be the only option. Oh well, free return shipping on this one.

Anyone have any experiences with car covers and the LS430? I searched and there were some older threads... any current owners have anything new to add?

I understand that you want to protect you car but in reality car covers do a lot of damage from rubbing against the paint causing scratches and trapping humidity against the paint. I highly advise against covering a car with a cover no matter how soft it says it is.

Do not get a car cover they hold in moisture as well as dirt particles. I would look into getting a DIY ceramic coating kit and ceramic coat your car you will be much much happier doing a cermaic coating vs the car cover. The cermic coating is good for 3-5 years with the normal maintenance and touch ups. It also cuts back on washes and stuff because it is very hard to get things dirty when they are ceramic coated its like having your car teflon coated car almost.

Car is already polished to perfection and has 2 layers of ceramic on it.

The cover will only be used in doors, on a dry, clean car since the car sits for weeks at a time without getting driven. Even sitting in the garage though, it still gets dirty...

Might be able to use clear plastic... I see a few guys on IG use that for their collections, just waiting to hear what kind it is.

Going to try painters plastic from Home Depot. 12 ft x 400 ft is only $24.

If your garage is temperature controlled, the plastic may well work great at keeping dirt and dust at bay. If it is not temperature controlled and gets cold in the winter, I could envision a situation where the plastic traps moisture and results in condensation either in the car or on the plastic. What about something more breathable?

Being in Houston, it never really gets cold here other than for about 2 weeks a year. Garage is insulated at stays pretty warm during the winter weeks...

Still looking at other options. The whole 'buy once, cry once' philosophy seems to apply with custom fit covers. Even ones that are custom fit for indoor protection are pretty spendy. Buy once, cry once... right?

For an indoor garage application, like yours, I have thought of making my own from soft cotton sheets (bedding), not very expensive, won't damage car, breathable, washable, and will keep the dust and dirt out. My wife is good with a sewing machine, could add some elastic to gather around or under the front and rear ends, and stitch it together. Take her a few hours tops.

And a very soft organic feather duster to sweep random stuff that falls on it in the garage back off.

I have one for my 1992 dodge stealth twin turbo that is from Budge, its a 5 layer. I think I ordered it through empire covers and it was the Titan 5 layer cover. My car sits under a carport outside. Its a nice quality cover though! It doesnt get rained on and is breathable. Its pros outweigh its cons for me, Pine tree pollen is the WORST

I have been covering my cars for 30 years. They never spend more than 30 minutes in the sun without a cover. If you keep your car and cover clean, they are the best money you will ever spend on your car. Good covers do not scratch paint etc. Sun damage is what destroys your car. My '04 TL still has crystal clear headlights, leather is like new, all weather seals etc. are perfect! I ordered my cover for my new '430 before I even had the car from the delivery truck. I use California Car Cover Company. Sunbrella material. Good covers aren't cheap, but its the best money you will ever spend on your car, if you use them!
