Well duh lol! That kills anything, I'm just astounded that I can take an engine this old and high miles that was not cared for well before me and stand on it like this. I mean come on who takes a 20 year old car to a track?

If you want another car, buy another car.
If you want to replace the engine, replace the engine.

Between the automatic transmission and the rev-limiter you are going to have to wait for something to fail for it to die, and that could be a LOOOOOOONG wait.
There are 3UZ engines out there with over 350k miles on them and 1UZ engines with over 1 million miles.
There is no reason that 3UZ won't do the same miles as a 1UZ as they are basically the same engine, just more recent with more complex electronics and VVT.
I am mystified by this thread as well. The first 3 points above summed up what I was thinking. Abusing the car has not been the focus here. Maintaining the LS430 is goal for me.

id love to see a 3uz kart build. Im a v8 guy and the 3uz engine is insanely smooth. Thats probably another reason it lasts so long. I am most surprised at 220k (and mines at 193k) that there is no valve float. Ls engines get that at 100k or so lol.

Oh there is, last 2-300 rpm it's there and gets really noticeable at the end of 3rd gear right when it should go to 4th it holds at 6k from 95-105mph. Can't notice it in the first three gears but shows up at higher speeds/rpms

Not severe enough for me to care yet but it validates the springs I picked for the other engine since I will also have it see high rpm and the rev limit will be at 7500

The 2UZ is even more durable with it having a cast iron block. The durability and strength is a testament to TMC’s philosophy.

I drive mine robustly but respectfully all the time with 250K on it, it still runs like new. By Robustly, I mean redline all the time, several times a day. By respectfully, I mean proper maintenance and no redline until fully warmed up.

Default I am a fan

I bought my 4runner new in 2003, I bought the V-8 even after the sales rep. telling me the 6 was the same horsepower. Torque is not the same.
It's nice to have two engines that take the same oil filter. The 4runner does have a drinking problem. Full time 4WD. V8 4runner no longer available.

Ah, got it so I'm stuck with this since I also don't abuse it. Guess I'll just set the time for the new engine at 250k and put it in

Do a couple of hits with a 150 shot of nitrous that will end it, I have sprayed a few 75 dry shots and it handled it with 0 issue.

Duh lol, I mean short of full on trying stupid stuff what would the limit be since once the oil is warm it doesn't seem to care what one does to it.

Don't temp me with the 75s though.....

When I was spraying I raced a few friends cars one has a sn95 mach one with an exhaust and I had him by like a car length, my friend has an evo 8 stock I had him by like a door fender maybe. Side note I also stripped the rear of the car and trunk out and I weigh like 148 pounds lol

You should deffintly do the 75 shot and see what you can run against till it blows up lol

....peer pressure....

Aside from oil changes, what can be done to definitely extend life?
1. No short trips at all
2. Never warm it up, wait 1 minute and drive it under light throttle
3. Running the engine to charge the battery is ridiculous
4. The best trip is long miles at light throttle
5. Redline is always bad; just because it didn't break anything so far doesn't mean it's a good idea
6. Don't start it unless you're going to drive it
7. If you don't have to shut it off: don't. Most wear occurs during startup
8. More power is harmless unless you use it
Not necessarily if you pull the plugs after each hit then replace them you can pretty much tell what the motor is doing with nitrous, by checking the strap

You stop it lol, it's way too easy to buy a compact kit and a spare ECT switchbank wood trim and setup the controls there for remote valve kit. Plus I can use the NOS kit on the other engine.......oh man these are bad thoughts.

I can easily alter the ring gap spec for 150 shot use as well instead of a RPM build, redline at 6500 on stock cams instead of near max size ones and 8k. I'll need to stock a spare trans though and keep spare plugs in the car
