Default Steering Gearbox, Steering pump and hose leak

Just had my 04 LS 430 checked by Lexus and was advised that there is slight oil leakage in the steering gearbox, steering pump and hose plus the engine too. Given the age of the car and that I intend to dispose it in a year or two, should I have them repaired or just add oil and check it regularly to keep the car going? The car is of little resale value in Hong Kong where it is now located even if I spend the money to have it overhauled. My mechanic suggested me to just top up oil and check oil level regularly rather than spend more money on the car which is not cost effective since I am going to dispose the car soon. Will you do the same? My annual mileage is around 5,000 miles since I don't use it everyday after retirement.

I would do as suggested. Just add proper fluid when needed and also clean leaking fluid off engine components when possible. With your low mileage per year it should be ok for a long time. Fluid leaks more when car is in use, other wise its minimal, unless its a large enough leak.

Thanks for your view. Unfortunately, the car failed MOT and I had to replace the steering pump to get it passed. Not too expensive but can prolong its life further.
