Most used motor oil is recycled and reused. It can be re-refined into new oil, processed into fuel oils, and used as raw materials for the petroleum industry.

This is what is printed in the ls430 owners manual in Oz. Originally I ran 5w-30 but after paying attention to the manual I swapped to running 10w-40 because where I am we never will see air temps below -5 deg c but easily/regularly see air temps in the mid 40's.

Since making the swap I also find the engine burns less oil since making the change, and is quieter running.

Does Toyota put smaller oil pans on the Australian models because my manual says oil capacity is 5.4 quarts, not 4.8. Strange.

As below shows, a US quart number would be greater than an Australian quart number for a same size vessel.
1US quart = 0.946352946 liters
1 Imperial quart = 1.13652297 liters

I'm not aware of a different oil pans. We get our fluids in litres so I buy the 5 litre pack.

I pour in about 4l. Check the stick to see it's above minimum line on the dipstick, run the engine for a minute or so. Stop the engine and then top it off incrementally to the max line on the stick.

There's roughly half a litre (give or take 100ml) left over in the bottle. so it required about 4.5l +/- 0.1 after all is said and done.

I typically keep the leftover for any top ups, if needed, between oil changes

Side note: since renewing the cam cover gaskets I have not needed to do top ups between changes.
