3/8" Inline Power Steering/ Transmission Filter - Good or Bad?
Anyone install a 3/8" inline transmission or power steering filter on their LS430? I used them on my power steering return line on my '98LS I previously owned, as the first gen cars were known to have more frequent pump failures. I don't hear of too many PS pump failures on the 430.

A puny filter is prone to clogging and is then worse than no filter at all.
Use a larger remote style spin on filter:
This is the general concept..but lose the crummy hose clamps in favor of constant tension clamps. Plugging and unplugging lines to change an inline filter is asking for it.

I am sure there are some pump failures out there, but in 10+ years on the forum I cannot remember seeing an LS340 power steering pump failure. I suggest doing a PS reservoir drain and refill every 12-18 months to keep the fluid semi fresh and you should be good to go.
