Interesting. Not sure I would have taken on that much, but my 2004 had a few things to take it back to where it is now at 97% showroom. I bought it with a great service history, almost no paint chipping (and never painted) and interior and floor completely covered since new, so every part of my interior is new, and smells like it, including no sweat rubs on the steering wheel (a pet peeve of mine).
Here is my quick breakdown of my very mini-restore:
Driver door lock actuator and blown speaker - $250 OEM actuator on Amazon + $50 speaker kit + $150 labor to cover both
Weird garage or rack damage above drivers door - $600 to have that strip sanded and painted
3 bizarre dents with no crease or paint chip - $300 for paintless dent removal, 100% out.
Sadly, owner did not notice all the baked on hard water spots from parking under a sprinkler or something, but the paint was beautiful - $700 in detailing to get all of it out and on the windows.
Passenger door lock switch didn't work - $60 on oemvehicleparts.com and I did the install.
A few little button light bulbs - $30 or so and I did the labor
Now, like I said the car is 97% showroom, and I am thrilled. The headlights were 100% perfect. I would be willing to spend again if the core things were good, but this Brit is more tenacious than I would be willing to be. I bought mine for $10,500, so I was around $13k all-in. It feels like I drove off the lot in 04 for $70k.
