Default Both left and right exterior mirrors don't reset to the correct spot

I've got an '04 - mirrors fold and open, mirror controls work fine on both sides. The problem is where they come to rest when unfolding.

Right mirror

Left mirror
As you can see, they don't lock in the quite the right position - it's like they unfold a half a step too much. You can see the dark unpainted plastic as well. I can move the mirror body, but it is loose then.
Is there an adjustment I can make to get them to stop in the correct position?

Thanks,

Scott

I have this same problem with my driver's side mirror on my 2004 LS 430. I have yet to find a solution. Are your mirrors type "A" or Type "B" ( indicated within a circle on the bottom of the mirror housing)? Both types can be found on the 2004. Those that are earlier builds are type "A". Mine is type "A", and upon taking it apart I found that it is not the same configuration as those that can be easily fixed by recompressing the spring. There are several threads on the forum related to this "easy" fix. I'll include some photos.

this plastic cover my house a spring?
