Default Lost ecu

My car started having some hard downshift problems which I’ve read and heard is some poor solder joints in the ecu. Did some research and found that SIA electronics can repair these. Anyway, I sent them my ecu for repair and it seems to have been lost in the mail and I did not take note of the part number. So my question is how can I go about getting a replacement ecu not knowing the part number? Or is there a way to find it using the vin in Lexus’ databases?

You can check the part number by doing a search on a Lexus dealer parts website. I like Bell Lexus in North Scottsdale, AZ. You can enter your vin and confirm the correct part number. Then I would do a web search for a used one using the part number.

Okay excellent! I was able to get the correct number I believe but now have been reading the ecu might need to be programed? What kind of specific information is stored in the ecu that will have to be programed for it to work? Also can Lexus dealers still do this or will i need to find a third party?

If you get a used one with the same part number you will only need to do the key relearn for the immobiliser. You can do it at home and it takes about 30 minutes.
