Default Paint repair - Dr. ColorChip?

I have a 2007 with Mercury Metallic exterior. Silver is said to be very difficult to match especially on older cars that may have faded some.

Dr ColorChip seems to have very good reviews. Has anyone had good experiences with it? I bought the car with a weird patch of paint chips on my hood.

That's way beyond touch-up paint status. Dr. ColorChip paint is not great quality I've tried it.

It is hard to judge by the picture (not clear how deep these chips are) but if it is only top coat is damaged then I think few levels of paint correction might work. Otherwise entire hood needs to be repainted if you want it to be done right and look good.

The chips are deep but seem to stop at the primer and not the bare metal. I was thinking of building layers of paint using a fine line paint pen as described in the following guide. https://truedriverscar.com/docs/detail_paintChipRepair

I've had reasonable results with the Dr on single color paints. Pretty sure yours is two colors plus clear. I've found Ebay usually has "3 stage" touchup paints that are made to order. Pricey, but they match fairly well. They do require a bit of talent. They also dry out after a few months, so buy the smallest size.
