Transmission Leak

The red circle in this pic is showing the overflow for checking the fluid level when the temp is 95 Fahrenheit and the engine is running, if you add 8oz to this it's not going to raise the height of the surface area of the pan by much. You could just use the fill plug.

Hi Derreck, Still leaking and still have the shudder. Has gotten slightly worse since my last message. I did change the rear differential fluid a couple of weeks ago and interesting enough, it reduced the shudder a bit but it is still there.

Thanks for reply, think I am just going to add some of that and see if it helps. A buddy who is a heavy equipment mechanic said we could do the job at his house but I want to do that as a second to last ditch effort..

Let me fet this straight. you added the blue devil, then the leak AND shudder went away. you have no more leak?
i got so excited that the shudder were gone . So i didnt really care to check the leak. I also had an oil leak on the driver side … i just put two bottle of blue devil stop oil leak on my oil change and let it run for 2hrs and so far i didnt see the leak stain underneath the car any more. I was really hesitating when i try to perform the blue devil thing. Because i read alot on the forum and they said not to do it because the ls460 tranny are very sensitive etc.:.i guess my leak was so bad that it didnt hold enough tranny fluids in there so thats what cause the shudder…hope this will help yall.
thanks

i would recommend drained and fill it back up 3 quart lexus atf fluids then a bottle of blue devil transmission sealer .

if the tranny fluids is dirty or low . Adding on blue devil tranny sealer wont help.. u need to drained and fill it up with new lexus atf fluids . Is really ez. If you worry too much about checking the temperature then just drained and fill it up 3quarts. Make sure you have an 24mm box end wrench to open the fill plug

Toyota WS fluid is cheaper than most and works fine.

I would do a flush and fill, can't think of any reason not to! There are two types of us 460 owners, those who are owning our LS for a few years and then buying something else, and own-it-til-the-wheels-fall-off types. The people coming to this site are the second types in general, so yeah, I'd take to the dealer for a flush. I say the dealer only because, I think it's more likely the dealer will use actual OEM Lexus fluid. Knowing how most shops do things, I think anybody else is probably going to use the cheapest generic red stuff in a 50 gallon drum they think will probably work.

Torque Converter Pilot Bearing?
A buddy who is a heavy equipment mechanic and I pulled out tranny to fix leak. He was surprised there was no torque converter pilot bearing. He said on every car tranny and heavy equipment tractor tranny he's ever worked on has a pilot bearing he was surprised how much room it had to move.
Does our car not have this?
Thanks
