Tow or drive to LExus dealer? any ideas what loss of this will cost? Just had the valley pan done. $$$ Thx

Lots of members recommend going to an indy shop that works on Japanese cars. Dealers have high overhead, higher prices and not always the best techs and knowledge. The steering is electric/electronic. New or used parts. $2-3k total depending on awd or rwd. An indy should cost less.

If the unit is toast it will likely one of these, might be helpful if you get an estimate.

Service manual lists the following as culprits:

• The power steering ECU connectors are disconnected from the power steering ECU.
• There is a malfunction in the power steering ECU internal circuit.
• There is an open in the harness between the combination meter and power steering ECU.

Do you have TechStream set up, or a professional-level scan tool? If the light is on there are definitely codes stored that will provide additional details. If you don't have one, I would highly recommend getting a scanner or setting up TechStream. Owning any brand's flagship out of warranty, even a Lexus, is going to be costly if the dealer takes care of everything.
