Default New Tires - Alignment - Huge Nail - New Tire…New Alignment?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions from you guys. At the end of April I purchased 4 new Michelin tires from Costco, for some reason I forgot to do the alignment afterwards, it was what the guys from Costco recommended because they looked misaligned.

Finally took it to the dealer to have it aligned today, and on my way home I found a big nail in the rear right tire. Went to Costco to have to fixed and they said it’s gonna need a new tire.

Guy who did it said I don’t need to do an alignment again after I asked him if that’s needed. What do you guys think? I’ve put about 1,500 miles on the new tires.

Thank you in advance!

Usually, you don't need alignment after such short distance.

I edited my post, I’m sorry if I didn’t make it clear. All this happened today, alignment, nail…only drove 10 miles after the alignment to get the flat fixed.

New tire needed to be ordered and should take couple of business days, I’m running on the spare right now. Thank you.

You don't need alignment, however, you will need to balance the new tire. I suspect, you already know that.

Yes! Had Costco guys do it last time and will make sure they do it again when new one arrives!

Thank you.

Sad that it was a nail. Michelin tires have a road hazard warranty that excludes nails.

Why did you drive over a nail? And with a new tire no less. Swerve the next time you see one!

Yup, Anfanger is correct.

Thankfully Costco covered most of it…

FWIW, I stopped having my cars aligned years ago and have never had a tire wear problem. I do live in S. FL, however, where there are rarely any pot holes.
