Oh it's a dumb system if you have ever worked with any of the Germans. Those are a proper implementation of air suspension not an afterthought

Yeah but they have systems that can be rebuilt, easily serviced, and last longer and are more effective when they are working.

The Lexus system is a major pain to adjust and often doesn't respond, you also can't program offset into it. It's stupid

Whether it's German or Japanese or whatever it's still junk to me. For sure there isn't enough difference in the ride compared to the 96 LS400 I had previously to justify the replacement cost for these shocks that's about the same as buying a 2010 corolla.

That's the other issue as well....it doesn't make much difference for Lexus. Not exactly worth having it vs cost, however I have found it to be worth it for my other two. I would gladly pay for OE parts for them

I paid $800 for an OEM air shock out of the UAE, including shipping and taxes. First time putting one in and it took 80 min. Then 10 min to adjust the ride height sensor. Couldn't have been easier.

Cool, a rebuild kit for German shocks is $200-300 and you got lucky with adjustment. Sometimes it's a major issue, sometimes it works fine, that's the whole issue with the system. It's not consistent and isn't easily adjustable, you can't just tell the computer what you want it to do and you have to fool with the links etc instead.

The moral of this thread is that air suspension on ANY car will fail. IF you want to replace parts on a failed system, fork out the $$$ & replace only w/ OEM & go on w/ your day. IF you want a reliable setup, swap out the air to a conventional shock and spring setup.

For all the newer members, there's been plenty of discussions on failed air systems, and the majority of members who's replaced w/ aftermarket setups, usually have some type of issues, of which nobody has provided a resolution.

Yeah, check each level sensor and use TS to actually see what the system thinks it sees. Same thing that is the default and ONLY way to do this and is easily searchable, if he wants the AVS system to work he needs OE shocks or there won't be an internal spool valve for the actuators to do anything with. I started with LSs btw and simply moved on when I realized they aren't any more reliable when they try to really be on the same level as the Germans, nothing against them but I just have enough experience with both now to say the LS is just as complex, harder and more expensive to get parts for, and leaves you with a car that underperforms.

Oh god forbid people actually search the other threads and only expect OE parts to actually work correctly!
