brake squeal

brake squeal
I bought a 2010 LS460 and noticed a loud brake squealing noise coming from the front ( possibly driver side). Front rotors and pads were replaced but the noise remains. It only does it the first few times applying the brakes and goes away, and more profound if the car was sitting for longs periods of time. It is also more common in cold weather. I thought it was the left caliper and replaced it to no avail. I was reading that it could be moisture. Am I missing something?

Depending on where you live in high humidity like here in NC it happens to my lexus when it is not garaged and my tundra and wifes honda. Like you said the longer it sits the more probability that it will happen.

If it's been doing this in cold weather, you've had the car since at least March?? If it's really concerning, bring it to a shop for diagnosis. They can tell better in person than we can on a forum. That said, if it's only when you apply brakes, it's probably moisture rust.

I've had the same mechanic shop change the brakes and rotors and now the caliper. I've told them each time of the squel and to see if they can find something..

The noise going away when warm is of course exactly what should happen, but in general, brake squeal is usually caused by the pads vibrating in their calipers. I'd take off the brake pads and cover the back of them with the blue anti-squeal compound made for just this purpose (which from the description of things sounds like your mechanic did not apply this stuff). One of these comes in a rattle can and is called "Permatex 80077 Disc brake quiet" and that ought to do the trick. If it still squeals after all that, I think I'd turn or replace the rotors, since the only other factor involved is the rotor surface.

Several members have pointed out errors in installation. There's a good chance this is the issue. Lack of lube and or improper clip placement will cause these issues as well. When I bought my 2013 used, the owner had it into the dealer for brake issues, new brakes on rear, and it still had them afterwards. I put new aftermarket rotors and pads on, broke them in carefully and they were then trouble free.
