There is no way that I know of to cause damage to the trans because of a brake problem, as far as anything else I couldn't say without driving the car. There is always a risk of an accident if someones brakes fail but that doesn't happen very often.

I know it’s weird to think about brakes damaging a trans, but I thought that maybe the constant rocking and jerking side effect would cause that?
