2017 Advice on buying
I’m looking at a 2017 LS460 with 119,000 miles. Appearance wise it looks great. But I’m concerned about the mileage. What issues should I be considering mechanically? I’m taking it to a mechanic for inspection and is there anything in particular he should be looking at? And are there known problems I should anticipate in the next 30,000 miles.? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome. Read the FAQ at the top of page for many answers to your questions. The inspection is smart. Lexus cars are very proprietary with software so be certain this shop has the proper software to read OBD codes in depth, most don't. Also, it's best to have a Lexus savvy shop do the inspection as the average mechanic may not be aware of certain issues. At 119k miles it's possible some parts are worn and need attention. Are there maintenance records available? You can go to drivers.lexus.com, create an account, enter VIN and see all dealer maintenance history. It won't provide non Lexus/Toyota records. The LS is a nice car but like any luxury car, repairs and parts can be expensive. Suspension wear, coolant level low, braking components under the hood, air shocks are all potential expensive repairs at this mileage. It's past due for spark plugs if never done. That's a $400 shop repair. let us know how it goes.

Personally I couldn't pay good money for a car with 120K miles unless it was a giveaway price. I'm guessing based on some 2017's I looked at, they're asking in the $30k range? I love the 2017 model year, but for me the mileage would have to be in the 40K's, one owner and clean carfax. I wish you luck.

Per my other post, I was about to pull the trigger on a 15, but it literally sold while my pre-purchase inspection guy was looking it over. Made me sick, although he was thorough and did find more items than the dealer included on their "inspection" sheet. I'd recommend a detailed 3rd party inspection prior to purchase, so you don't have any surprises. Hopefully, within that time, you won't lose out on the car you want like I did.
3 main things:
1. Control arm bushings wearing--heavy car, not the greatest design. Expensive to replace if you go OEM.
2. Coolant valley plate leak--labor intensive but the part is cheap.
3. Brake actuator--but on a 17 it's covered. Lexus extended the coverage to 10 years or 150k miles.
Check the service history on My Lexus. Add the VIN to your garage and you can pull all the dealer service history. Of course Carfax/Autocheck, but they aren't always reliable.
As someone else noted, I wouldn't buy one with that high of mileage for that price unless you have thousands saved to put into it. I'd also hope that the main 3 things have been addressed; #2 and #3 may not ever happen, but #1 will.

You shouldn't have many mechanical issues with the car. However, normal wear and tear items at 120,000 could include control arm bushings, shocks, brakes and the 100,000-120,000 mile maintenance (plugs, coolant, etc). If the car is otherwise pristine, the price isn't bad. You can get a Lexus platinum extended warranty for $2000-$3000 from a dealer, depending on the number of years and miles you want covered. This would cover any unexpected catastrophic failures. You could maybe negotiate that as part of the sale price.
