Lexus LS 460L throaty growl........

You should be able to get an idea of the mounts condition by opening the hood when it's running and stick your leg inside and pin the throttle a couple of times to check for excessive movement . Here's an example of good mounts.

I have a newly purchased 2011 LS460 L with 113,000 miles. I've had several other Lexuses....(ES, GS, multiple RXs).....
my question/concern is: my LS is very loud..inside the cabin! not muffler/exhaust but more front/engine noise. at idle and when accelerating.
and not like weird, problem ticks, knocks clicks or slap noise/s....the actual "sound" doesn't sound bad....a constant consistent loud rumbling throaty engine growl.
if this was a '57 chevy or other muscle car, i'd say the car sounds great! mean and aggressive!
but on arguable on of the (supposed to be) quietest cars on the planet....something doesn't seem right.
outside the car, it doesn't seem that bad, but inside, definitely noticeable...even have to turn the radio up (more than normal) to overcome the noise while driving...
does this seem right? am i just being oversensitive? any ideas?
thanks in advance........

I literally just bought the same exact car and I am wondering the same thing. It seems extremely aggressive for a car that has excelled on being so quiet. Do you have the air suspension by chance?

When people rave about how quiet these cars are at 80mph on the highway I think that could due to hearing loss, they have done a good job on sound deadening on most of the panels underneath the car and the inner sides of the door panels that helps to kill some road noise and improves the sound of the doors closing, but every time you lower or eliminate a noise source there is another one ready to take its place.

It's the mounts. 95 percent sure. I didn't take any video to compare noise but I drove both 600's for months with the loud noise. I'm familiar with the sound especially during acceleration. I too thought it was a hole in the exhaust. I even did a smoke test of the exhaust to find the leak. There was no leak. New mounts fixed both cars. There is a video of me doing the smoke test in this thread somewhere. I replaced the mounts myself. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ispreloading=1
It's really difficult if not impossible to inspect the mounts without removing them. On our 460 a lexus dealer was asked to check the mounts on a number of visits ( read this in the history of the car). Each time they said the mounts were fine. Seller ended up trading it in. I purchased it and replaced the mounts. 5 years later it is still quiet.
On both the 600h's and the 460 only one engine mount on each car was shot. Even when they are shot they still support the engine to some degree but they don't suppress much in terms of vibrations. A 15 year old rubber mount that is still intact is hard as a rock due to the age of the rubber. Those vibrations travel throughout the car. I believe that is what the noise is in your videos.
Our 460 with bad mounts sounded completely different than the 600h cars. The rwd 460 was more of a vibration than a noise. The awd 600h's sounded just like your videos.

as many have mentioned....after third opinion, it has been diagnosed as the mounts. quoted $3000+ for doing all 4..... I think I'll just live with the noise ....
it's just an annoyance and not anything needed to be fixed, correct? won't lead to any future issues or anything?
thanks again for everyone's help
