Apparently, the advisor said they don't have to mess with the rails or injectors; only the harness. Maybe, I misunderstood the YouTube video. He went from harness to injector problems, so I assumed that all had to come out.

Direct injector connectors break sometimes, prompting inj replacement... It's all been discussed...

Right, that's why he said the harness might need to be replaced, and it doesn't. In the YouTube, he went from harness clips to fuel rails and injectors; that's why I figured all that had to come out too.

Once you're in there the additional labor would be minimal maybe 2 hrs max to pull injectors and replace as necessary, new o-rings and maybe harness connectors. I've said before I don't want to do that repair on my car but if I did I would be thorough...I don't get paid to do my own repairs.
I would recommend this if I was doing it for someone else just to cover my azz. I even stopped using the centre cover because it holds a lot of heat in after shutting the engine off and doesn't promote any airflow when moving by design that I can see.

As you should. It's not worth risking it and some of these are really bad so ts best to have spare connectors on hand before starting.

The LS460 is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new flagship sedan and gets 90% of the way there. Almost as quiet as the best new flagships, ride is still very good, sound system is better than anything I've experienced -- by far, auto high beams/wipers as good as anything I've tried (non-matrix), seats are good, power is still very good, handling sucks (lol).

If you look at it that way, then what's the problem? I get that it has some parts that could have been designed better. Can't always get (exactly) what you want.

If you're on a budget that is less than the average new car price, don't screw yourself over with a car - any car. No car is worth losing your financial freedom.
The handling is adequate, anything that predictably pivots and can have controlled tail out in turns is quite good. It just has a lot of body movement, actual road holding is above most cars

All of that compared to 7-series, S-Class, etc. Behind the wheel of the 7-series you'd think it was two segments smaller.

Sure but that's unfair, the LS is good for what it is. It's never going to touch a 7 but we know that...it does however outdo everything that's not a true top tier car like those.

Wow! I was away for a few days and just now read this thread. The way it started I was thinking, "Oh no, is this going the wrong way and I wasn't here to mod?". Far from it, this was probably the best spirited conversation I have read in a long time. Kudos to all the contributors. Everybody argued their point aggressively but without any dispargement of others. Carry on!

Quote of the year! As a long time car forum member (I was first on a now defunct Jaguar forum in 2000) I don't know how many times I thought the same thing.

I watched the car care nur video on the ls460 vs the ls430 a few days ago. The next day my ls ate a starter. $2171 later. My sc 430 caused it. Was jealous i was not driving it. So it failed the la’s starter. I swear it’s true

What year is your LS and what's the mileage?

I’ve only driven the last gen 7 series, but it only beat the LS in handling. Everything else, especially build quality and materials went to the LS. Wouldn’t say it was in a different tier. If anything it felt very plasticky. I’m generally a big fan of recent BMWs too.

We had an Audi e-tron a few years ago (their electric flagship), and again ride, noise, build quality, etc. go to the LS. Sound system, night and day. I’m so much happier in this car.
