Default New to the LS460.

Hello I am new to the club and recently purchased a 2014 LS460 fsport with 160k on it. None of the control arms, spark plugs or air suspension have been changed. Any suggestions on what I should tackle first? Also any recommendations for after market control arms would be great. Thanks for your time.

I'd do spark plugs first, if you have it done by the shop have them inspect your front end parts too. If the shop thinks they're ok for a while, I'd start saving to get them done eventually anyway, everything I hear and read says on our big Lexus it's just about a normal wear item anytime after the 100,000 mile mark.

As for the air suspension, my 2017 doesn't have it, even so I'm pretty sure if and when it needs attention it'll let you know.

I mean how does it run? If everything sounds and feels good no reason to go trying to find ways to spend money on it. Drive it and enjoy it. Do regular services. 5000 mile oil changes and feed it gas and go. Find a good indy shop that specializes in Lexus/toyotas that knows how to work on the LS460, dealer repair costs for this car can get expensive.

I agree on plugs first if they haven't been done. Does the car make noises or clunk in the front end? Inspect the control arms before you replace them. If you have it in the budget, go for OEM replacements. Parts alone can run close to $2k if you aren't paying dealer retail. I've heard aftermarket parts fail in a year or two, and you're back to doing them again. Labor is 8 hours book time, but it's the price of quality parts that can get you.

I just bought a 2014 a few weeks ago and love it.

Thumbs up reply

The car runs well, the only noise I hear is from the rear and only when the suspension is in the highest setting. When the suspension is set to normal the car tracks and rides well with no obvious suspension clunking or noise. I am an advanced DIY'er with past Mercedes and BMW skills. So complexity does not deter me from taking on the larger jobs. But being new to the Lexus platform just wanted to ping the forum for suggestions. I agree with sticking with OEM replacement parts, 160k on plugs does concern me.

Thank you

Welcome to Club Lexus and congrats on your new car and I wish you good luck with it.

I agree with the others, get the plugs changed, 160K miles on them is enough. You run the risk of some getting frozen in there. I wouldn't touch the suspension unless there is a reason to replace anything.
