Default Steering wheel play

I haven’t found anyone complaining about this specific problem, but my steering wheel can be physically moved up and down, left and right. I tried tearing as much as I could apart, and it appears that there might be a missing bushing in my steering column, but I can’t say for certain. It’s not the u-joint, it’s not the motor, but something is loose.

Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I’m thinking about just putting a used steering column in it, but if I can fix it, I’d like to do that

Bushing might be just worn out, not necessary missing. How much of a movement we talking about? How about telescoping (in-out) movement?

About a half an inch side to side, up and down. You can move the steering wheel front to back, but it’s much less.

And by bushing, I mean there appears to a metal rod, so to speak, that is missing around where the column bolts to the bottom of the dash. I couldn’t tear enough down to figure out if it was missing, but that’s were it appeared to have the play at

Don’t have much to personally add to the issue itself outside of a suggestion. If you haven’t yet, go to an online Lexus parts store (e.g., mylparts.com or lexuspartsnow.com). You should be able to find the right assembly exploded drawings to cross-check against what you’re seeing in your disassembly, confirming if you’re missing parts, etc.
