Default No Start After First Try

Second time this has happened, but when I go to start the car, it cranks but doesn’t start. No issues from then on out. Starts right up after I push the button again. Both times it did this, the car had sat a little while (engine cold). Looks like the dealer where I bought it installed a new battery. The only code I received in Techstream was the one that mentions a fail to start, P1604–Startabity malfunction. Any ideas? I hope it’s not the starter already. Battery connections are good.

I did some digging on this forum and it seems like one person said it triggered that when they turned the car to on or accessory a few times without starting. Seems like I may have done that. I’ll just keep an eye on it. I didn’t read anything that made it sound like something major.

Yup. Start with low pressure rail check. I suspect fuel pump and/or it's regulators.

Agreed. Try cycling the ignition a few times and see if it then starts normally.

Please be reminded that the correct technique for starting the car is: press and Release the START button.

If you press and hold the START button you may not get good results.

Fuel pump was already done for the recall issued.

I never hold the button to start it. We have 3 Lexuses.

If it keeps happening, I’ll get it checked out.

I've had this happen twice since getting my car, once was after a battery change and the other after sitting for about 4 days with the same code. I never chase anything intermittent like that because if it's a real issue it will get worse and more obvious. I haven't read of anyone here getting techstream lite and updating the ecu's that need it when you do a health check...the updates are there for a reason and might apply to some issues people have.
