Also Sick.. I've always felt that people spending upwards of $75K on a luxury car do not make decisions on price alone. Being the "low price leader" is not necessarily a good thing.
nope... class leading features, engine, transmission, and technology that doesnt break is what people make their decision for. And this is the reason, current generation LS has been the best seller in the USA for past 3 years.

New one has some unbelievable features, for someone not to recognize that, they have to be really trying hard.

This car is THE luxury car at this point of time. With LS600h coming, I simply do not see anything coming anywhere close to it for a long time.

World's first 8-speed automatic transmission
Smart Card auto technology
Onboard 8-GB audio server

really, someone spending 100k in a car, will want their IPOD hooked up? Or will they preffer to simply transffer their whole music library to the car? Getting ridicilous dude.

Absolutely right. We've hooked up the iPod (either cable/radio transmitter/cassette adapter) to our other vehicles, but only once on the LS. It's more casual to do the iPod thingie like that, if we get the New LS we for sure will upload the songs once, and have 4,000 songs in a library to choose from.

Sort of like how on the best first and business class airlines you have a library of on-demand movies, entertainment, all already available at your fingertips--courtesy of an onboard server.

LOL if you watch the 'performance video' on the japanese site, towards the end it says first LS 460 then ' ULTIMATE DRIVING EXPERIENCE'

I hope you guys realize alot of these features were standard on JDM Toyota cars that were never released here and then some. Toyota Century comes to mind:

Gotta ask the Lexus engineer's but here's this layman's view:

1. 8 GB music server...hard drive on the car. You can upload music via the aux input, from your iPod, or you can buy music through an online uplink (at least this is what is available in Lexus Japan)...Lexus G-Book.

2. Body temperature sensor--part of the new, 4-way climate control system. Likely adjusts the air flow to your liking not only on cabin temperature, but also your body temperature. Likely sensors in the back and bottom of seats. Maybe even tells you your body temperature.

3. Smart card--available on the long-wheelbase version? A more advanced form of smart key, with remote start?

Here is our thread on the new S
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...&highlight=550

Both are stellar cars.

But Lexus engine technology is so efficient. Mercedes needs 5.5 liters to make 382 peak HP. Lexus only needs 4.6 liters, basically one less liter to make 380HP. THen the Lexus is much more fuel efficient.

That is advancement!

Interior looks nice but why did they have to use that cheap looking grey plastic on the switch gear?

It's interesting that some of this appeared on the Toyota Century, glad to see the styling on the LS 460L is much more futuristic, sinuous, and sexy though!
