In looking at the side profile of the LS460L shown on the site at the link in the above post, I thought "gee that looks a lot like a series". So I decided to see how close they look.
While I definitely like the new LS, I think the side profile is its weakest angle - it looks too 'designed by committee' whereas (shock) the 7 series looks more unified. Now I think the FRONT of the new LS BLOWS AWAY the 7 series, but anyway, here's a comparison of the LS460L and the 750iL.

The LS 460 IMO looks a bit more unified from the side, probably because the shorter length maximizes attention on details, while the 460L longer length adds more 'open space'

New Info on LS460
I just posted over in the LS430 forum about pricing and options info I got from a Lexus Dealer Manager today. Looks like this car will be MUCH more expensive than the outgoing model.

Unfortunately, it looks like I was wrong. Just talked to the manager at the dealer, and he says the new prices are as follows:
LS460 Base $64,900 (fully loaded $85,000)
LS460L Supposedly only comes fully loaded - $89,900
LS600hL $115,000 (only comes fully loaded)
He said Lexus is trying to reduce the number of packages available to make it easier for them to produce.
Also, he said the new LS600hL will have 140hp more than the LS460. So, that equates to about 520hp. It will get 35MPG in town. 460L will get about 20-21 in town.
LS460L and 600hL will have AWD standard.
Of course, I should say that this is only the dealer talking and they are frequently wrong this far out before production. I thought I should give this disclaimer since autospies will likely steal this post for use on their website (as they have done with my posts in the past).
He also had an interesting tidbit on the new ES. He says that all of the current-generation LS technology will be in the ES and that the ES will be quieter on the highway than the current LS.

That said, those numbers he claimed are amazing!! The 460L with its sheer weight carrying STANDARD AWD, LWB and a V8 gets 20-21mpg AROUND TOWN??
That's truly astounding, considering my ES300 is rated at 21mpg around town. Totally blows the competition off the door! Of course, high-end luxury buyers may not care much about gas mileage, but this is still impressive from a technology standpoint.520hp for the LWB hybrid is amazing too, considering how they usually detune the gas motor for their hybrids (I'm kind of disappointed by how much they detune the 2GR-FSE in the GS450h BTW). The "hybrid premium" on this hybrid seems to be around $20k, as opposed to the usual $4k on other Toyota hybrids. So the electric motor in the Ultimate LS has got to be a super powerful one that can warrant its high premium.
Again, the dealer's words can be correct but we shouldn't count on them too much until near the on-sale date. Remember how much the prices those dealers were reporting vary before the New IS went on sale? The range was as wide as the galaxy and none of them turned out to be correct.

Thanks for sharing the information. But I highly doubt its accuracy. First of all, dealers are rarely correct about this type of info more than 6 months ahead of the official launch. Second, the price increase seem pretty steep. Although I hope the 520HP is true.

There are only so many tree hugging eco nuts that will pop 15K for the ego boost of driving the hybrid. Once those sales are gone, the comparison to other 115K luxury sedans might not look very good for Lexus. All we have to do is wait to see what the real story is.
