Since that's a UK press release I assume that's based on IMPERIAL gallons.
1 gallon [UK] = 1.200 949 92 gallon [US, liquid]
So 26.2 UK mpg would equate to 21.8 US mpg.
Wrong again.
10.8 l / 100km is
(10.8 ltrs = 2.853 u.s. gallons, => 1 gallon per 35km or 21.7miles)
So both releases say 21.7 - 21.8 mpg (u.s. gallons)

While it is true that the Lexus press release now states combined mileage in the low 20's, after Geneva, that does not guarantee anything. "Low 20s" could mean 21mpg, or it could mean 23mpg. "Mid 20s" could also overlap and cover 23mpg.
Remember the IS press release? It mentioned both the IS250 and IS350 would have estimated combined mileage in the "high 20s".
https://www.clublexus.com/index.php/...iew/5339/1/10/
Now it turned out the IS350 has 24mpg combined economy, and the IS250 RWD has 27mpg combined economy.
The current LS430 has I believe combined economy of about 21mpg or so, and I refuse to believe that the LS460 will have such a small gain over the LS430. It gets an 8 speed vs the LS430's 6 speed, on top of a brand new engine design, with more efficiency.
I predict the LS460's combined economy will be about 23mpg, or slighty below that. That would be low or mid 20's, depending on how you interpret it. Either way, it will be class leading.

Well this car ain't going to be light so that will be the biggest factor. (I couldn't find weight in this thread by the way.) There's only so much efficiency can be wrung out of the V8's workings without some other help.
MOST people buying a $70K luxury flagship car though don't give a rats patoot about gas prices anyway.

There has been mention of "Lexus material", which is not a rumour, but a fact. This is supposed to be a new lightweight interior material that according to Wards will first be used in the new ES and new LS.
Besides, the 8 speed tranny and dual fuel injection in the new engine will certainly help things.
I agree, people don't care too much for the fuel efficiency, but it will play a role in bragging rights. You and I both know bragging rights are a big deal with luxury cars

The safety features really amaze me. I wonder how Lexus intends to train the Lane Keeping Assist system not to drive into a jersey barrier when construction crews fail to black out old lanes. Any time bridge construction occurs here in metro areas, they will most always build a road to the side of the old bridge. In doing so, they black out the old white lines and paint new ones. But imagine the new LS turning the car to the left or to the right and making a mistake...yikes.
I read the driver can always override but typically these temporary road lanes are lined with jersey barriers and no shoulders. No much room for mistakes.

I saw the ES350/GS450h/LS460 at the autoshow 2 days ago and WOW the LS looks nice. In pictures some might say it looks like a 750 but in person it totally loses that look.
The new Carmy looks nice too I thought the ES350 was going to be totally diffrent from new camry but I was mildly disappointed to see it wasn't.
What I wasn't disappointed to see was the race version of the maserati MC12 talk about WOW

I think that Lexus has pursued a deliberate PR strategy that has 1 'big bang' at each auto show, if a new product is unveiled. 2 products can cannibalize the publicity for each other. In press blurbs about Lexus, the 'big splash' will be talked about, not 2 items with lesser attention to each.
So maybe the IS coupe will be next year? I want to see that car soooo bad!

If it's indeed true that they will make an IS coupe/convertible that' will be available early next year, I think they will have to unveil it no latter than the Tokyo Show later this year .
