Perhaps with the new LED technology, AFS is unnecessary.
If I was a Lexus engineer, I would use the three LED clusters per enclosure to my advantage by pointing one to the left, one center, and one right. This would ensure the widest possible illumination area (Assuming the center one is bright enough to illuminate most of the front). In this setup, it would be like AFS was always on because the turn is automatically illuminated. It would also, as was said before, eliminate the moving parts.

of course, they cant light the sides at all times since it would blind other drivers. It has to move.
On that video of LS460, we see lights MOVING.
So it obviously has AFS of some sorts - moving lights.

Hi Everyone!
Sorry to go off topic, but hear me out. I have read a Japanese automotive magazine last nite in Hamamatsu's Aeon Shopping center. In that magzine, there is a particular article relating to the LED headlamps of the LS600hL. The article has stated the the LED headlamps are legal in both Asia and Europe, but not in NA. My question is that..IS IT TRUE that LED is not legal in NA?
Thank you in advance.
With warmest regards,
FElix

The government will require proper control of the beam pattern so that people aren't blinded, but that's no different than them requiring leveling controls and proper reflector assemblies for OEM xenon lights.

well if it's 5 yrs ago probably it's illegal.
but now, with all the technology, and that big car manufacturers are making these led headlights stock. the government has to "evolve" and understand what shoudl be legal![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
but yeah, given how the ls600hl was unleshed and introduced, i think the ls600hl here in the US will have led headlights
