Default Whats with the LWB sedans?

All the long wheel base sedans i see are driven by a single guy...

I dont see the point of these unless u are being choffured.

I see a ton of LWB S classes...i think its not needed for regular people.

I think the new LS is gorgeous(srry jaguar but ur cars are no longer gorgeous) and i wish the hybrid wasnt LWB only!

Two words...smooth ride. The longer the wheelbase, the smoother the ride. Ever ridden in a limo?

Also, LWB looks sleeker, IMO. Longer, sexier...much like a beautiful girl with long legs (laying down on her side on asphalt of course...)

I think they are going after the 7- series cause the Maybach is way too much expensive

I think Lexus is targeting all of them: the 7-Series, the S-Class, and Maybachs.

They are going to play the "anyone can have an ultra-luxury V12 for less than $100k" which the other three cannot provide. They are also going to throw in correlated reliability from previous LS generations, as well as a eco-friendly hybrid.

As for the original question, some people drive the L versions for prestige, and to pamper their passengers if they're driving, and be pampered if someone else is driving. You can also get some options with the Long version only, such as the reclining seats with ottoman, rear center console fridge, or rear entertainment systems.

i think the maybach is a far stretch. the 460l and 600hl might be a little notch above the s class and 7 series in some sense, but idon't see a maybach buyer just walking into a lexus dealership and ordering the 460l or th 600hl. lexus is not at that level yet imho, as much as i love lexus

and regarding lwb, like others said, it's not just about the rear room. it's about stability, look, class, etc... and sometimes it's not about how much you use it, it's about that few times when you REALLY want to have it. just like nav imho

I agree. LS460L and LS600hL are wonderful automobiles, but no buyer who can afford the luxury and prestige of a Bentley, Rolls, or Maybach is going to switch to a Lexus.

I think I'm a regular person. The reason you always see me alone in my A8L is that I'm usually driving to work. The reason I chose it over the short wheel base is that it rides smoother and there is lots of room for our family trips and other times when we drive with other regular people.

How long is the LWB LS? The S only comes in the LWB version in the US. I've never seen the shorter one they only sell in Europe. Is the LWB LS longer than the S?

Yea trust me if have monies..i'd rather be in a Rolls Royce...even if its only cuz the hood ornament goes up and down on the touch of a button.

Even if it handles like a cross between a locomotive and a cruise ship!

I know someone who owns a Bentley and an LS...sat in both, and trust me the Bentley doesn't have anything on the LS' interior design, except perhaps more space and a more 'traditional' look. My friend uses the LS as his regular, daily driver...the other car for special occasions.

Well I recently sat in a new Flying Spur (basically a 4 door Continental GT) and I love the LS but its interior looks like a Corolla compared to the Bentley - you must need your eyes tested, sorry.

I thought they say it's how you use it, not how big it is.
