A Taste Of Lexus
Has anyone signed up to attend A Taste of Lexus event? They have 10 locations across the country where they will be showing off their newest cars, including the LS460. I scheduled a test drive at 10:30 am on 9/16 in Irvine, CA. They claim to have world class chefs at the event offering free food samples, and private showings of cars with test drives on closed test tracks. Most importantly, they will have the new LS460 available for driving, and with no sales people at the event to bug you.
It seems like a good way to have a chance to really investigate the new LS without the pressure of dealing with pushy sales people and the whole dealer experience. Just curious if anyone else has signed up for this, or if they have gone in past years and found it worthwhile.

Signed up....
....for 9/17 at El Torro for 11:30 AM. I attended their event a year or so back and it was really good. Drove the IS 350 back to back (also at El Torro) with the BMW and the GS against its competitors as well. Looking foward to driving the LS 460!!!

I attended 2004 and 2005. 2005 was pretty good, but crowded (it seems to get that way more and more each year). There were lots of hors d'oeuvres and drinks, all carried around by servers with trays. It was sometimes hard to find a place to sit. Lexus is getting a little too popular!
In 2004, to compare with the LS, they had the S-class and 7-series on hand. In 2005, to compare with the IS, they had the 3-series. I expect them to at least have the S-class this year, but there are no guarantees.

I have gone every year and am going again. If you get an invitation and love cars, this is a MUST GO!! It is just a total blast to drive all the Lexus cars PLUS all of the competitors cars on different courses. Some for handling, some for performance, and usually one or two for off-road. You are treated like royalty and spoiled rotten. Its one more thing to make Lexus ownership to true joy.

How quickly the time slots fill up?
Last year, I tried to signup and it was all booked.
I just got the invitation in the mail yesterday.
I'll probably signup tomorrow for FedEx in MD.

Last year the 530i and E500 were available for test driving against the GS and the 330i was to compare to the IS since they wont have competitor cars available for the ES im guessing they will have the 7series and the S Class. At least the sclass should be there. Look forward to going may see a few club member there.
