Ls460 0-60 And Braking Times
Has Anyone Read The Autospies Posts For Today? They Claim That Car And Driver Tested The 460 And Supposedly The 0-60 Was Reached In 6 Sec And The 70-0 Braking Was In 209ft. My Main Concern Is The 0-60 Time. How Can This Be? 380hp And 367 Ft-lb Tq. What's Up With That?

Honesty and integrity of media
Besides after a big lunch the foot goes to sleep so that may explain braking distance.
I am very interested in finding out how to judge a mag's honesty and integrity.

Anything possible. C&D only one magazine. If more magazines start posting something like that, then there is a problem. WTV. I'm going for the LS600h L anyways.

it could possibly be the weight issuses? also did it say what it runs in the 1/4 mile? from off the top of my head i say low 14's to high 13's easy. this is a wild guess from what i assume becuase i don't know much about this car just yet...

When Lexus states a performance figure they are..
usually a little conservative. I wouldn't worry about what autospies says Car and Driver said etc. Enjoy the pics. Lexus says under 5.5 and the consensus is 5.4. The 600hL is touted at 4.9 sec. Braking tests could vary by tire type, road surface, temperature etc. The calipers on the touring package are 14" on the front and spiral drilled for ventilation. If you want performance handling in this car go for the 19" wheels/tires and the additional air suspension in the LS460L with TP.

Not a Car & Driver Review
I read the car & driver article and no where does it say anything like that.
The quote was from Leftlane News that said car & Driver said it.
Here is the Car & Driver Review
http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...nd-ls460l.html
Page 2 says the 0 to 60 is 5.5 sec.
Anyone see something different?

The revierer for "Winding Road," an online magazine, said, "It [LS 460] feels very strong, it responds instantly, and we have no doubt that the stated 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds is conservative

Oddly enough, I trust Winding Road a lot more than Car and Driver although Winding Road is an internet email magazine.

I cannot wait for www.thetruthaboutcars.com to review the LS (in any variant).

As I said before, they claimed they have tested it in Austria, during press preview.
Basically they tested pre-production unit with some pocket size test device half an year ago...

The proof will be in driving it and seeing how it feels, but reading the C&D and R&T articles didn't make me think I'm going to be rushing out to trade my 3rd Gen based upon rocket-like performance or other on-the-road improvements in the new one. I hope it is more exciting when I drive one than what the magazines have reflected so far.
Also, judging from the photos it looks like my fears may have been realized in that the car looks, appearance wise, like Lexus has built a somewhat generic-looking RL/GS/IS/Altima/7-series universal Japanese sedan. I'm still hoping that it doesn't look this way in person. If so, it's a shame.
