As for the audio server, considering you need to record from CDs anyways, I guess the 460 owners will just need to use mp3/wma discs.
Well yeah, but Jim Press kinda made it a big deal during the LS debut speech. Plus all the JDM Toyota/Lexus cars have had this option for over a year now. Shouldn't something this trivial be made available to the LS460 as well? They probably can actually save cost by doing this, since that's one less variation in configurations while the hardware stays essentially the same, unless they bother to use a smaller harddrive for map data on the SWB LS460.

they are trying to make distinction between models... besides, if you really want it loaded, you will get L anyway...
p.s. it seems to me as if they are expecting average price to be around 75k-80k based on initial stock. No base at all, not even close, as it should be.

L = more rear leg room = more rear seat goodies. Isn't that distinction enough? I still see no reason not to make something as trivial as an audio server available to all models. It's just a (presumably) firmware upgrade for god's sake!
I bet the aftermarket can figure out a way to reflash the LS460's firmware with the LS460L's and make the audio server available, IF the map data is indeed stored on a harddrive in the LS460.
