Default Lexus LS460 goes on sale in Japan today

http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/news/06/0919.html

Speaks for itself

Some of the numerous goodies include rear collision detection system (standard on version U and options for lower variants), standard 10 airbags, G-link telematics with 30 GB HDD, and high-quality vehicle build for starters.

Visit the main product site:
http://lexus.jp/models/ls/index.html

And check out the respective movies as well. Neat presentations and informative indeed.

Just click "PLAY" whenever you see one.

That sounds great. Hopefully, the LS makes a bigger statement than the GS and SC in Japan. The GS and SC are nice, but Lexus needs a flagship sedan in Japan to make a statement in the luxury auto market.

Off-topic:

Blackraven, have there been a lot of Lexus in Manila? I was there late last year and saw the dealership; my uncle owns the BMW dealership there on Edsa a kilometer away...

So looks like the converted base price is $65.85K (7,700,000 / 116.930) and the official HP rating is 385.

Fact is that the Celsior has ALWAYS done well in Japan.

Whether or not the new LS does well really isn't a question.

way to sweet! another month before the major hit here in the US

from the pricing, seems like the 460L U package is more like fully loaded? i won't go into much, but seems like the pricing is going in the right (good) direction. fingers crossed!

Japanese pricing may not mean much with regard to reflecting what the prices here will be, the LS460 is SWB only in Japan right ? Plus the options are packaged differently, & the exchange rate can fluctuate constantly . . .

true, but then we know the GS pricing in japan and here in teh US. it's never accurate, but ratio is always a good reference

Default A shade below Audi A8 pricing would maximize dealer profits and improve the brand

Sorry for the whining but last night for my project I did another analysis and found that if

LS 460 and 460 L are priced head-to-head with Benz or BMW it would be bad

but if priced a shade below Audi A8 and A8L respectively, it would be great cause for celebration with the dealers.

Dealers will be able to get maximum benefits of sales as well as rich margins at these prices.

Obviously, I had to include some intelligent assumptions, but I have a strong hunch (not lunch) that LS will be a home run if they price it the way I have described.

Default More pricing - This time in Euros

This is from Autospies.

Not sure where they got the pricing.

http://www.autospies.com/news/Lexus-...y-Takers-8591/

This is in euros - not sure why since it was released in Japan.

Default Japan Lexus Web Site

Very well done for the new LS that was launched today.

I hope that they will re-do the US and Canadian websites in time for the new LS460. Both sites are looking a bit dated now. May be I feel that way because I check several times a day for any new info on the LS!

Please visit the Japan site. Easy to navigate even without any knowledge of the Japanese language.

I want to see the updates to:

http://lexus.com/greatadvances/

in the meantime there have been a few updates to:

http://ls.lexus.com

But the teaser site:

http://allnewls.com

still is the same, nice, but it calls the Executive Class Seating Package the Premium Four-Seat Package which is not the name used elsewhere.

Meanwhile:

http://www.lexus-europe.com/index.asp

(enter the lexus europe general site) has a very nice site with multiple sections, like the Lexus.jp site.

The Lexus Europe site has some amazing pictures, simply stunning ... the Lexus Japan site has more videos and much more info ... both are awesome sites

The new Japan site is really nice, tons of info, and lots of smooth videos ... took me a while to look through everything about the new LS.
