Do we get this option in the US? DRIVER MONITORING SYSTEM
http://www.lexus.co.uk/about_lexus/n...asp?pagingid=2
DRIVER MONITORING SYSTEM
The new LS 460 is equipped with the world's first driver monitoring system, designed to warn of dangers ahead if the driver takes his or her eyes off the road.
A CCD (charge-coupled device) camera is mounted on top of the steering column cover with six built-in near-infrared LEDs, which enable the system to work accurately both day and night.
When the vehicle is started up, the system automatically plots the position of the driver's facial features - eyes nose and mouth - and measures the width and centre line of the face. This information is used as a reference as it monitors movement of the driver's head when looking from side to side.
If the driver turns his or her head away from the road ahead while the vehicle is moving and an obstacle is detected in front of the vehicle, the system automatically activates a pre-crash warning light and buzzer. If the situation persists, the brakes are briefly applied to alert the driver. And if this still fails to elicit action from the driver, the PCS engages emergency braking preparation and front seatbelt pre-tensioning.
Before being brought to market, the system has been tested with more than 100 drivers, covering more than 100,000km. As long as the driver's face is in the clear sight-line of the camera, it will function accurately regardless of the driver's seat position, facial characteristics, or if sunglasses are being worn.

Hi everyone,
I am still overseas in Europe and I had a chance to visit some European Lexus dealership for the first time.
They will not get L version like we will in US, so ottoman, four seating config and body temperature sensors are not available overseas. L wheelbase will be available on 600hL only.
They do get DMS and obstacle detection that can take the car to the full stop once it "sees" something that you don't. That is what they have told me.
I guess the reason we don't get that is probably cost cutting measure so the vehicle could be priced below competition. Unfortunately America won't see most of the "World's first" features... in 460L anyway, maybe on 600hL in future

When the LS600hL was unveilied in new york auto show, bob carter specifically said...
"fatured as an option on the LS600h L, and the LS460 L is a precollision system like is nothing ever offered before"
Watch the unveil video and you will hear him say that.
Based on that, it will be offered as an option on the L model even here in the US..
otherwise why the heck would he make that comment?

click video.
Fastforward to 1:30 mark and listen.
He actually says "LS600h and LS 460 L". Im assuming he meants both the shortwheel base and longwheelbase of the hybrid models, otherwise it be pretty stupid to make that announcement with the LS600h L unveiling.

Thats so freaking stupid and deceiving to say that at an unveiling. Make it clear if thats the case...dont make comments like that at an official unveiling that is so off the truth. how misleading is that?
