they made a big deal about the 19" OEM wheels/tires which come on the touring package will NOT fit on the other models at all without rubbing because the steering racks and suspensions are different. If you can make 20's and 21's work that would be quite a feat. The whole idea of going bigger rim is to go to a wider tire so it might be difficult to achieve...
The photoshop looks nice though.

It will be interesting to see how Lexus deals with this on the non-Touring cars, as buyers will undoubtedly want the 19" Touring wheels on their standard LSs (just like almost all IS 250s here in California have 18" wheels instead of 17"). Apparently, Lexus is only making about 50 Touring LSs per month due to production scheduling... order yours now if you want one!
We have this all figured out and will offer 20", 21" and 22" wheels for the new LS.
The Burgundy is quite rich in person- deeper than Matador Red. I normally don't like shades of red on big luxury cars, but this color is very handsome. I would be torn between this and the Dark Blue.

wow, damn, very nice stuff there bob! i am glad that you were able to start looking at the car and test it out! i wonder why they have a different bolt pattern, bob do you have any hints for us??
and it's very interesting on the steering rack. so does that mean it's a lot more challenge to put on 19s and above on the non touring version? how about the touring version, does it make things easier to put on 20s and above??
and gosh, nicely modded ls460l there but do they look like 22s? they still look kinda "small"

I'm sure guys will put different wheels on the standard AND Touring versions, but if too high an offset is used, the tires WILL rub on the sway bar of either car. I'm guessing the change in bolt pattern was partly due to the weight of the car, but I'm not saying what the bolt pattern is just yet. We are already manufacturing wheels for the new LS, and I don't want to give any of our advantage away.
One other note: Lexus USA has stated that Lexus dealers can ONLY install aftermarket wheels if they are hub-centric. This means the wheels must be made specifically for the cars, as no hub rings are allowed. We all know how sensitive the Lexus cars are to hub-centricity and wheel alignment- the new cars are no exception. Also, all of the new LSs come with tire pressure sensors in the wheels, so this must be factored into wheel fitment as well (we figured the sensor issue out years ago).
It will be interesting to see if Lexus can finally make the LS appeal to the under 60 set... hopefully, the new LS will be the new "baller" car and we'll see some nicely modified versions out there!

no problem bob, i know this is all about business, so it's cool about the bolt patten i was just curious anyway. i pretty much had the same thoughts in mind as well on weight, but of course i leave that to the pros
sigh, thank god those are 20s now make sure you take pics of the car with some sick 22s, then we are talking!!!!!!
so on the offset, the idea is basically that the wheels have to be "lower" offset so it sticks out more to avoid rubbing the sway bars huh? from the front suspension pic you posted up there, i can see what you mean. i know we will have to wait for your final finding and testing, but i HOPE even for the NORMAL version (non-touring), people can still put 9" wide wheels in the front!! (but then again, it seems like with touring version, you can put wider ones? )
