I mentioned this subject to my (Ca.) dealer before delivery and he told me they did not attach or do anything to the front bumper unless requested by the owner. My car was delivered untouched.......

i wouldn't say it's required, but it could backfire. front plate is always required in CA, but it's not until last yr or so where most dealerships really enforce it coz' they got people complain about their tickets.
for most dealerships here, when you don't want front plate drilled in, now you need to sign a waiver

1. Looks better
2. Have driven this way for 20 year
3. CHP only issues a fix-it ticket
4. Just because the gov't says it's a good idea doesn't make it reasonable, and no one can really demonstrate that this is a significant isse.
5. Has anyone out there actually lost a plate or had one stolen???
