I don't think it will be.
It'll be a different tranny.

Lots of people have said the CVT in the GS450h is just not right, it hunts for the right gear and never can find the right spot.

really? i love the tranny on the gs450h, i wonder if it's just people not getting used to a car that doesn't "shift". when i test drove the gs450h (compare to gs430 and gs350), the power is instant and pick up was fast, and like i said it's very smooth

the ls600hl has dual stage cvt, not sure how different it is, but knowing lexus, it's probably an improved version?

I didn't vote for any of the four options there. Here are my opinions:

You should keep the 06 GS430, since it is such a nice car and still so new, why waste so much money to replace another car that is only one year newer?

Now the 02 RX300 should be the one you replace with. But with the 06/07 RX400h? I would say no. If you don't have to have a SUV, then why not replace it with the LS460 instead? If you must buy a SUV, then yeah the current RX is okay, but may be there are better choices out there, such as Range Rover Sport? Or wait a little bit for the new 07 BMW X5?

This is a pretty good point. Your GS is pretty much brand new still and the '02 definitely is a candidate for replacement.

I really love the outside of the range rover sport and it was the reason I am buying a LS460. It made me want a new car but once I sat in it and looked at the lit green dash and simple materials used on the inside, well lets just say I fell out of love. I then set my sights on the 460!

how does it "hunt" for a gears if it doesn't have any??

The rpm will vary but that's the point of a CVT.

I would just get the 460L now....cause the 600hL will come out in spring and by then there will be a lot of 460L's on the road that look just like it except for the numbers on the back. According to what I understand, the only difference is the hybrid engine.

Buy the new car when its totally new and no one has seen it, which means buy the 460L....if you really want the 600h that bad, then trade for it after a year or so when then 600h is not selling for premium (msrp - $5k maybe) (i know your 460L won't be worth as much a year later either but you will loose value on it immediately anyway so waiting a year is not going to hurt it by too much....maybe $5k more than buying it now and sell it in a month?)

You hit it on the head already.
It's awkward.

Default The 600hL will be in scarce supply at $115K but...

would be the second AWD hybrid from Lexus even though the powertrains are dissimilar. The RX400h is way faster than the RX300 and has VDIM which makes it able to handle the trickiest conditions without a sweat (GS430 has VDIM with RWD). If everyone were already driving a hybrid there wouldn't be any smog to blanket the cities with either. The 600hL will be the boss with all four paws launching to 60 in under 5 seconds and those little passing maneuvers should be exhilarating....Just save up those Shekels.

Louis Vuitton handbag but who cares when you're having this much fun. It will have the pedestrian sensing radar and LED's everywhere but it won't pollute!
