I was curious to see how the Lexus forum would respond to the C/D review and actually thought I'd be the first one to bring it up. I see that ALOT of you have already responded and are enraged with the review.

You all need to keep in mind that the reviewers are professional drivers and have driven numerous types/brands of vehicles. Lexus has always been criticized for not having any character or having a bland feel. What I got from the review is that the LS still drives like a high performance ultra quiet Mercury Grand Marquis. I've owned an LS430 and loved it. It was the most relaxing vehicle I have ever driven, but I think the Audi does have much more character. Much tighter handling, wonderful and extremely addictive V8 engine growl (I turn the radio down to hear the engine) and just timeless styling. The Lexus was a better car but the Audi is just more fun. Lexus of course is know for reliability and while that is important in the real world it isn't so important in these type of comparos. People who can afford these types of cars usually don't them for more than a few years. I know when I go to buy a new car I am not worried about reliability since there is a factory warranty and I usually get rid of them near the time the warranty runs out.

If only Audi could figure out how to design an A6 that would go for 300k miles with routine maintenance. Everyone I talk to still bemoans the lack of reliability. :-(

Performance?!?! Last I checked, Mercedes' S550 is putting out 380 CHP, and the LS460 which is .9 LITERS SMALLER is putting out the same amount of horsepower... Lets F______ING Measure that performance... LS460 = 82.6 HP/L, S550 = 69.1 HP/L.......

Lets not forget about that 8 SPEED TRANNY.

I dunno, what's the point of keep bumping an old thread on a comparo that tested a PREPRODUCTION LS460 with crappy tires & other stuff that may not be up to production standards against other production cars ???

Let it die already . . .

^^yeah seriously. C&D should do a full test of a production LS460L with Touring Package to return the LS460L some justice.

^^ they need to let the same testers/writers who wrote that previous C&D comparison of cars in this class that ranked the LS430 #1 against the S-class, 7-series, A8 & the Jag, despite it being the LEAST sporty of the bunch, to do the new test

Very true. They used to write sensible reviews like that, testing luxury cars for what they are...LUXURY cars. Nowadays they seem to care only about sports in the final scoring.

Yes, they should probably just change their name to Car and lose the whole Driver part while they are at it....
