I always thought that satellite radio had no commercials but that is not the case. I was very surprised to hear advertising. It is strange because you can either have music and commercials for free on FM radio or you can get XM and have music and commercials for a monthly fee

Also, I have the trial period and can't seem to find the live traffic updates. It says that my subscription is not active. Does anyone else have this or is this extra?

if you have xm you should have xm nav traffic, i would call xm and ask about activating. is the xm nav traffic available in your metro area?

You do have to activate it. Get 3 free months and then it is about 3.99 or 4.99 per month. I found it very useful this past week on a trip from Phoenix to San Francisco. It seemed to be timely in most cases and accurate in its assesment of traffic flow.

I have to agree that the Nav Traffic is worth the subscription price. It identified stop and go traffic on my intended route when I was about a mile away from it and I was able to take some side roads to avoid it.

My wife has SIRIUS which I find even worse than my XM ( talking that is).

It's only the music channels that are supposed to be comercial-free. I don't listen to that many of the non-music channels, but the old-time radio channel isn't too bad on commercials.
