If so, I would guess that there are deals being negotiated....

likely scenario, ask me how i know:

dealer had deposit on that vehicle, car came in and customer changed mind about vehicle, color combination, equipment, etc and now dealer has a vehicle that doesnt match anything he has another deposit on and car is available NOW.

just a guess....

You're right, my bad - I deleted my post.

joedaddy - no idea why you think they deserve no margin at all.

I don't believe they can do that legally - that would be price fixing. They can have 'compelling' consequences for dealers that do it though, like 'gee, we have no inventory for you now'

yeah i know dealerships will be seriously penalized for marking up above msrp. but then again, like i said before, 800 bucks tint, 700 bucks pin stripes, and 8000 bucks chrome wheels

i think after the new year we will start to see a bit of "stock" of 4ls at dealerships, just my guess though

thats exactly what they will do. each allocation dealers get their regular mix of inventory, then there are always "extra" cars left over. these are hand distributed by the district sales reps. if you are pulling stuff like selling cars over msrp by using an "adm" sticker, and lexus finds out, no extra cars for you for a while.

Default Colors and cars that I bought

The 460 L is Black on Black coming on Monday
Luxury Package
Mark Levinson
Lexus Link
Intuitive park assist
Advanced Parking Guidance

Paid Invoice $79,352

My wifes' IS350 that she is picking up this afternoon is Starfire Pearl with Cashmere
The IS350 is setup with...
18" wheels with summer tires
High Intensity lights (AFS)
Navigation
Premium Package (heat/Cool seats etc.
Rear Lip Spoiler
XM

We were able to get the price down to about $1,650 over ACTUAL invoice because of my LS460L purchase. ($39,459) $43,124 out the door

I am driving the LS from home (Las Vegas) to LA to trade out my rims for Chrome and taking my wifes rims with me to trade hers also at the same time. In LA chrome rims are about $600 to $700 per car depending who you know. The Las Vegas Dealer won't budge off of their $2,995 for Chromes. Same rims that I am gettting go figure....

Also of note...

There has not been very much if any advertising of the LS460 on TV or anything else in the Las Vegas area. I have only seen limited ads on any national channels either... This tells me that Lexus has been selling enough of these cars so far and is holding back on advertising until they need it. When they do increase the ads it will probably keep the momentum up enough to still command MSRP for a while.

Keep in mind that Lexus originally thought that the SWB would outsell the LWB about 8 to 1... In the US it supposedly has been reported that the LWB is outselling the SWB 4 to 1. I know that here in Las Vegas the local dealer has been seeing the 4 to 1 ratio also and that every LWB that has come in is gone in a day or two still. The SWB depending on color combo may sit for a few days or even a week at most but still sells.

My sources tell me that there is still a production delay in increasing the LWB output and that if a buyer is looking for an LWB in a color like Obsidian (Black) or Smokey Gray that there probably won't ever be a discount of too much if any for the 2007 model. They have said that by the time the production numbers for the 07 LWB come up enough to keep up with demand the 08's will come out and then we start all over again.

If you want a SWB in an off color my guess would be that you might see something small off the price by about Feb/March 07

Up here, I've actually seen more LWB than SWB so far . . .
