Where did you get this information from?

The reason for the absence of dealer mark up is due to Lexus policy by the way.

I have only seen a few responses to this same previous question.... from the past responses I have only heard of a couple of people getting a small token discount of about $1,500 off when they bought two LS's at the same time that were on the dealers lot. A SWB and a LWB at the same time.

I am taking delivery of a Obsidian on Black LWB in a week and had to pay MSRP so far... I am taking delivery of an IS350 for my wife this Friday also which I was able to get for only $1,000 over invoice because of my LS 460 purcase but NO discount on the LS460 SWB especially in my color combo.

i believe velvetblue got it for under msrp

it's supply and demand, people are willing to pay msrp for the, it's not like dealership is forcing them. why do they have to throw in extended warranty?

and it's lexus policy that no car can be sold for above msrp

When I first started buying Lexus vehicles, I was bothered paying MSRP or amounts close to MSRP. That's because, for 25 years prior, I had been buying GM vehicles and knew that with little haggling I could easily get 12% off MSRP. With Lexus, a dealer has little incentive to provide discounts because he has limited inventory and, particularly with new releases such as the LS460, more buyers than cars. So, after buying a few Lexus vehicles, I've come to know that I'll pay close to MSRP, but I'm getting a better car, much much slower depreciation and therefore greater resale value. Don't think you're going to see much discounting off of MSRP for at least a year, possibly two.

As others have said it's all supply and demand. If you have heartburn over how much the dealer is making on the car then wait six months and there will be discounts. I got a small discount off MSRP because of my repeat business and relationship with the dealer and I'm enjoying my car today.

actually he did. he said there was about $8000 markup which was $8000 more than the dealer deserved to make, which translates to zero

I was able to get some small discount on the car but the manager went the other way around, he did not give me discount on the new car but raised the trade in value by $2,000, but my LS430 was in excellent shape so I was very satisfied. I tend to look at Lexus as quality and ease of mind, therefore, I am willing to pay more and get little discount but I know I am getting quality.

Like others have said, it is a new hot item and for you to be on the first ones to have one and show off, you have to pay, I am sure, by end of next year, they will be able to do more negotiation (not much I think), not till the next LS is redesigned.

Super happy with my LS460.

thats an awesome policy.
The F599GTB is going for 75k over sticker. Way to diminish marginal utility.

Edit:
Newport Ferrari is selling for 130k over sticker. Kick me in the nutts.

MSRP isn't so bad.

Default Is there a surplus?

I have a deposit on a LS600hL for delivery in February 2008.

I just got a call from the dealer saying that he had an LS460L available for immediate delivery.

I wonder if there could be a surplus already?

If so, I would guess that there are deals being negotiated....
