Default Am I too young for a LS-460?

The LS line has been known for it's grandpa/grandma buyers, so I'm asking: At 39 years old am I too young for a LS-460? I am ready to buy one, love the interior, reliability, etc...

What's the average age of LS-460 owners?

Let's see...
I just turned 35 4 weeks ago and my LS is arriving in 2 weeks. Ex BMW fan, actually still am, but decided to try something new and reliable this time.
I was thinking the same thing you are thinking but hesitated to ask. Didn't want to offend anybody.

Absolutely not. There are some LS430 owners in this forum in their 20's & love their cars, & the LS460 looks more youthful compared to the LS430.
As long as you like the car & can afford it, age shouldn't be a factor, the stereotypes associated with certain cars are mostly nonsense anyway.

ALL the flagship cars are considered cars for older people because they are more expensive & not affordable to the vast majority of the younger generation. Thus most of the drivers of these cars you see on the road are older people. That doesn't mean younger people have to drive a more sporty car & can't appreciate a larger, more sedate sedan loaded with luxury features if it is within their means.

I don't think we can know what the average age of the LS460 since it just came out. I think it's over 60 for the LS430, & I think I read an article stating that Lexus aim for the average age of LS460 to fall below 60.

It's been reported before even the average age of BMW owners are about 44 or 45, a little over 50 for Mercedes, & about 55 for Lexus. If you base your buying decision on these statistics, you shouldn't be driving most of their cars at all, the least of all, their flagship cars which are mostly driven by the oldest.

Hey i'm 28 and ever since the LS came out i wanted one.
From the first body style up to the 460 so to answer your question NO.
I plan on signing for a 460 around the summer early fall 07.
I'm also in a motorcyle club and the baby of my club is 23 and he just brought an 03 430, it's your tase buds and whatever floats your boat.

P.S i live in NY statenisland to be exact and you should see the teenagers driving S/class benzes and 745's to high school it's crazy.

If you are worried about what other people might think rather than what you really want for yourself in a car then maybe you are too young for the LS460.

Ha, good posts fellas. That was one of those questions that I'm sure all the less than 55yo guys have if they are on the market for a LS. I simply love this car and in fact I have mine on its way. Funny thing is most of my friends are giving me a hard time on the choice (granpa's car, blah, blah, blah) but I think the truth is that they're jealous!

2005 Median Car Ages for buyers:

Mercedes 58.7
Lexus 49.4
BMW 46.1

Source: http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...ars-usat_x.htm

It's getting older as the baby boomers mature and use their hard-earned cash for cars!

Anyhow, I've been dreaming about the LS since I was a little kid, and IMO it's not too young if you can afford it!!! Consider it early success.

It's a stereotype but tinted windows and some nice 20" wheels would change the perception.

^^ Good point. Hey not to hijack the thread but does anybody know if the signal function on the LS-460 is also LEDs on the tail lights? It would be lame if they had LEDs for parking/brakes and stupid light bulbs for blinkers...

Heck no !! I'm turning 38 on 1/1 .. My 460L is my 3rd LS, and my 5th Lexus overall. Why wait to enjoy something you're obviously working very hard for.

I'm only 24 and the LS would absolutely be a car I'd consider owning in short wheel base form if it made financial sense for me to do so but of course I have much higher priorities at this age in life.

Dude, you can NEVER be too young to enjoy luxury.

That's like saying, "I am too young to be rich?"
