LS APGS real world results ???
Have any of you that have the Advanced Parking Guidance System used it in a real world application.
I wonder if it would be helpful in a place like NY city? I hear the parking spots are really small there. I cant decide if APGS is an option I really want.
Thanks RT

I live in a subburb of New York called Staten Island. We don't use Parallel Parking that much. I have tried the Advanced Parking Guidance System several times and got it right a few times. It seems to take so much attention away from your surroundings that I really do not see it as being practical.
It is great to tell people you have it and to show them, but for all intents and purposes, it is still a party trick.
In New York, this was part of the package I bought and I did not have a choice.
Not sure about Texas.

I watched it demoed today 3 times - twice parallel and one back in and it's amazing to see a car steer without driver input, but I was a bit unimpressed with the results.
1st parallel into a pretty generous spot left the LS about 2 feet from the curb it looked like.
2nd parallel into a tight spot was pretty impressive although still out from the curb more than I'd like.
3rd back in job left the car at an angle in the parking spot and not even left/right.
It will do the job, but I'm pretty confident I could do better myself and much more quickly.

I have it, and I have tried it in parking lots with garbage cans set up to simulate cars. It has never worked in 12-15 tries. I have given up, and I wouldn't ever try it in a real situation. It is just a gimmic. It was an option I had to take or pass on the car. The rear view camera does have practical utility, especially at night, however.
