First LS460 mileage report FWIW
#16
Report update: ten days after I started this post, I now have about 1100 miles on the car. Mileage to date is still exactly 24.9 mpg with about a 50/50 mix hwy/city driving. It goes down considerably in the city, and up on the highway, but these are real-world results so far.
No complaints so far, except one thing. The seat heater on the driver's side doesn't extend the entire length of the seat bottom. If you move the driver's seat bottom forward to extend the chair length (not the chair position), you get a cold strip on the back of the seat at the very part of your butt that needs the heat the most.
Maybe Lexus designed the seat this way to keep us snow bunnies from falling asleep at the wheel...

I have a little over 1900 miles now (about 6 weeks old). On my drive up to Cleveland, OH (from Atlanta, GA) I averaged 29.2 MPG w/ an average speed ov 74 MPH (about 1800rpm). A whoppping 550 miles to a tank of gas !
An amazing piece of technology ...

Hi all,
Not sure what to do here. I've had the car (LS460L) for 3 weeks now and have about 500 miles on it (don't drive too much). All my driving is city. I'm averaging 14.2 MPG. Not happy about it at all. I'm not sure if I should wait a bit longer or should I be calling Lexus service.

I was getting 20 - 22 MPG on the BMW 528i. Yes, I know is much smaller, but I was just a bit concerned that Lexus advertises 19 MPG and I'm only getting 14.2. If you guys think it's normal, then I'll stop complaining about it. Don't get me wrong... For a 4.6 liter engine, those are still pretty good numbers i think, but like I said, I was just concerned that maybe something is wrong with my car that I'm only getting 14.2 VS. 19 advertised.

New engines also require faster warmup for emissions, hence more fuel spending in cold start conditions.
What year was 528i?
There will be nothing Lexus can do about it, unless it is an leak from the fuel tank :-).

it really depends on how you are driving it and under what conditions - expect improvement with more miles and longer trips.
