What's the surprise? This race is just pointless. It's like "racing" a tiger, a cheetah and a sparrow to see which one gets to the treetop first. Does anyone in the world not know that AWD would win on a SOAKED track already? Let's see the race in the rain again when all the competing cars are AWD driven.

My last car was a D3 Audi A8 4.2 Quattro like the one in the vid. I can well believe how is stomps away from the others. The handling was superb for such a large car. Pity it was always in the dealer being fixed.

Even in the wet, it's pretty cool to see the A8 rip around like that. Nice vid! I don't think the LS would have lost to the 750, it doesn't have that much more power....For it to even beat the 745, dear Zeus please don't avenge the loss with your wrath.

Not really. You are comparing a new Lexus engine/tranny to a BMW powerplant that is several years old.
The Lexus is best compared to Cadillac, Lincoln, Chrysler cars which are luxury sedans. No one can touch the overall feel/drive of German engineering.

Here's the result of the Time Attack for your convenience:
1. A8: 1'17"31
2. LS460: 1'17"84
3. XJ-R: 1'20"33
4. 745i: 1'20"72

The time attack was not filmed. It is where each car is driven one at a time, from the same start line, thereby eliminating the interference from other cars. The LS460 did superbly well. It nearly matched the A8's AWD with just RWD on a soaked track. Imagine how far ahead it would've been if the track had been dry.

Again, you ar comparing performance from lexus' new engine to those in the other cars which are several years old. For example, BMW's newest model is the 750/760, V8 and V12.

The engine in the car isn't as old as the design might be How about comparing the cubic inches with relative performance?

You know what? When read the rankings from this article I had to remind myself to take everything with a grain of salt. For the car to finish so poorly would lead those that don't know any better to believe its an inferior product.
I always said that if I based my vehicle purchases on these articles I would have probably never owned a Lexus!! (shows how much THEY know.........or don't know! lol)
