Default soon to be new LS owner

I'm new to the boards and a long time lexus fan. My family currently drives a 94 LS, 04 RX, 04 ES with a 4th on the way.
I ordered a red with black interior LS460. And i was looking online and it seems dark/depressing almost too dark. The RX was a special order blue with black interior and I like it, but the LS will be for mom replacing her old LS. She's not a fan of black but feared the other colors would get dirty. So she settled on black but looking at pictures i sorta have seconds thoughts.
whats your opinion? Any one have any pictures? i saw the one picture in the gallery but it didn't help much. Also whats your take on adding chrome rims? Will it look good with the red?
Thanks

PS i ordered the nav/lev package. What is the power rear seats in the comfort plus package? Do they recline, i thought this was only for the L

I have a black interior...it get's dirty too...the scuff marks. But black is very nice when it's clean. The chrome wheels will look great!

Welcome to CL...I have seen 3 LS 460s in red, and they look fantastic!!!!

Haven't seen a black interior one though; the red LS 460 and LS 460 L that I had a chance to look up close both had tan colored interiors.

Our LS 430 is in Ecru I believe and it's been 2+ years and we've had no problem keeping it clean, of course we've been very careful--protective floor mats, and regular spot-checking.

By contrast I have been in a black interior Acura and IMO it is harder to keep clean on the inside as bits of dust, scuff marks, who knows what shows up well against the black. But then again, it might be different in another car.

And the power seats in the LS 460 do recline and have memory. It's a simpler setup than the 460 L with the rear seat audio controls, etc. but they do recline indeed, if you have that option package. Very nice and roomy enough IMO.

Hope you enjoy your new LS!

It's 12 cu.ft. VS. 18 cu.ft. between with & without the rear seats upgrade option.

Is this a surprise present for your mom ? Otherwise why didn't you bring her to the dealership to look at a real car before ordering one. From my own experience, LS460's with black interior is the most commonly found interior in our local dealerships . . .

no its not a surprise. We looked and she wasn't happy with the colors because of the dash, its black and she didn't like the other combinations. She liked the gray but didn't like that wood that it came with. So we ordered it that way... i told her it would look sporty....
What about the rims, Chrome or no chrome? i think it would look good cause of the chrome line on the doors...

I think it's all about personal preference when it comes to choosing color combinations and options like wheels etc. What looks good to one may not look good to someone else, so its best to let you mom decide what she wants and let her be completely satisfied with the choices on her car.

The power seats in the rear do not change the trunk space. Only the executive package on the 460L causes the trunk size to be smaller.

The rear seats upgrade package AND the Executive Package BOTH reduce trunk space for the LS460L :

I have reclining rear seats as part of the comfort plus package and I have the full 18cuft trunk. The rear seat upgrade package is something different.
