Default Can you copy CD to HDD w/o ML

If you do NOT have the ML option, can you copy your CD to your HDD?

Yes, since I'm not sure what ML has to do with that option.

How would that work? The ML version has an input for uploading...from my awareness, the standard system does not.

My point is that both (standard and ML) have a hard disk so it would be easy offer the feature on both.

I think the question was whether you could or not...not whether it could be easily offered :-)

The copying is done via the CD changer, not the input plug.

If you have the Hard Drive, you should have the ability to copy the disk.

I have the ML version so I am not sure about the non-ML.

I guess we're left with the question if the non ML has 30 gb? Good dealer question! If software handles the transfer function, then it appears we are out of luck. I have the non ML stereo and I sure would like to have the ability to store MP3s and WMAs.

both cars have the nav with the hardrive storage. However, its just a way for lexus to get more customers to spend more money on the ML system.

that option for storing music almost justifies my spending of a few grand to get that with the ML. Most people dont care about the ML's 19 speakers, but just want the option. Well too bad for those people right?

Actually, in my area, as one can see from the Build Your Lexus part of their website, the ML comes as part of a package that adds $5,300 above (since it includes things like auto-park feature) the stardard audio package.

On the GS, in contrast, the ML option is only $2,100 more since, when you buy it on the GS, you aren't forced to buy a lot of extra gadgets at the same time.

$5,300 to be able to copy to tunes to a hard disk is pretty outrageous.

r u serious?
you would pay $3.5k for a HD drive instead of 19 speakers and amplifier?
y don't u just spend $200 on an ipod?

the whole point of ML is the sound quality through the speakers.

im just saying personally, i dont have those audiophile ears, and i really couldnt care less about the sound quality. However, i said i would be willing for fork over the money to get the ML just because it has that Hard drive.

and yes i have an ipod but i dont like it. lol.

im not saying i want the HD more than the ML. Im saying the HD justifies the price of the ML
