Default Keys on the LS460

I wil be taking delivery of a new LS460 and I am getting mixed information on extra keyes.

I wanted to order two additional keys, but without the remote. One key that wold open the door and trunk, but could not start the engine and another one, just the same but able to start the car.

On my LS 430 it was easy. I just ordered two extra keys -but only one was programmed with the correct sequence to start the engine.

The dealer is telling me that on the '07 the only key I can order is the full remote key (Around $250). I was also told that Lexus no longer provides the credit card like emergency key.

Any one knows? Thanks

Default The new LS 460 is keyless

I don't really understand your question? The key hidden in the remote, will only get you inside the car. You have to pop a piece of trim off the door to access the key slot. The car has push button start. The car does not come with the old credit card style key anymore. I received two remotes with hidden keys built into the remote. There isn't a place in insert a key to start the car to my knowledge...

I would say you would need to purchase the whole remote for an extra key.

Default Maurice,

I just went out to my garage. There is no key slot for the trunk. The only slot for a key is on the front doors, next to the handle that pops off to access a a key slot.

Thanks. How does it work with valet parking - is there a part of the key that can be removed to keep the glove compartment and trunk closed?

That is not true. Open up the trunk lid and lift it until you see the back-up camera. Now look to the right corner just below the lip over the license plate and you will see a slot for the key. That opens the trunk.

Also, the key in the remote locks the glove box which has the cut-off button for the remote opening of the trunk via the button on the left knee panel.

This way you leave the remote with the valet parking dude, take the key with you, and he won't have access to the trunk (as long as you don't forget to lock the access to the trunk from the inside of the car too, in between the rear seats).

Thanks for the info on what to do with a valet. I did go out and found the key slot on the trunk and looked inside the glove box as well. I looked in
the back seat and found the other place to lock as well. What a pain. I don't like to valet my car, so it won't be a problem.

Thanks,

Craig
